1

What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website when you visit it. They help websites remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how you use the site. Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or access your personal files.

2

Cookies We Use

EduVault uses the following types of cookies:

Essential Cookies

Required for the platform to function. These maintain your login session, store your user role for routing, and protect against CSRF attacks. You cannot opt out of essential cookies.

Example: user-role session cookie

Preference Cookies

Remember your settings and preferences, such as your last viewed lesson or sidebar state. These persist between sessions to improve your experience.

Example: lesson progress stored in localStorage

Analytics Cookies

Help us understand how users interact with the platform — which pages are visited, how long users spend on them, and what features are used most. This data is anonymised and aggregated.

Example: Firebase Analytics

Security Cookies

Used to detect and prevent fraudulent activity, bot access, and unauthorised login attempts.

Example: Firebase authentication tokens

3

Third-Party Cookies

Some third-party services we integrate with may set their own cookies:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication session management and database access.
  • Razorpay: Payment session security during checkout.
  • Cloudflare: CDN performance cookies for fast content delivery.

We do not use any third-party advertising or tracking cookies. We do not participate in ad networks or sell data to advertisers.

4

Local Storage

In addition to cookies, EduVault uses browser localStorage to store your lesson notes and bookmarks. This data is stored entirely on your device and never transmitted to our servers. Clearing your browser storage will remove this data.

5

How to Control Cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

⚠ Disabling essential cookies will prevent you from logging in and using the platform. We recommend keeping essential cookies enabled.

6

  • Session cookies: Deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies (login): Expire after 24 hours of inactivity.
  • Preference cookies: Retained until you clear your browser data.
  • Analytics cookies: Retained for up to 12 months.
